If you are unfamiliar with Retropie, check out their website to read more about it. It’s a simple and affordable way to run Emulation Station and have most of your emulators and roms in one place. In addition, you can also install Kodi, my favorite software media center ever made, to enjoy any tv show or movie that you can think of. With these 2 paired together, you’ll have a tiny, but powerful, Home Theater Personal Computer (HTPC) that you can deploy anywhere with power and wifi.
- Since Retropie was made to be installed on a raspberry pi, follow this link to purchase a Raspberry Pi 3 Complete Starter Kit from Amazon.
- Once you receive your Rapberry Pi, go here to use the step by step instructions provided by the community to install Retropie.
- Run Scraper. I would recommend to run Scraper from an SSH terminal seesion. Don’t worry, instructions on how to are here . Scraper will update your ROM information and give it a thumbnail and description when a rom is highlighted.
- Once you have installed Retropie, go here to install Kodi.
This whole setup can take a couple of hours if you haven’t done it before, but it is very rewarding. For less than $100, it’s probably the best investment you can make in order to save you money by cutting out your cable bill. Enjoy and leave a comment on what you think about it!
